Digital Desk: India's shooting star Sarabjot Singh has revealed the reason behind his decision to refuse a government job offer following his bronze medal win at the Paris Olympics 2024. Sarabjot, who partnered with Manu Bhaker to secure third place in the 10m air pistol mixed team event, came close to reaching the medal round in the individual category but narrowly missed out.

The 22-year-old's performance in the mixed-team event has been widely praised by fans and critics alike. Upon his return from the Olympics, the Haryana government offered him a job as a token of appreciation for his achievement. However, Sarabjot graciously declined the offer, citing his desire to remain focused on his shooting career.

"The job is good, but I will not take it right now. I want to focus on my shooting first," Sarabjot told reporters. He further explained that although his family has encouraged him to secure a stable job, he is determined to pursue his passion for shooting without any distractions. "I don’t want to go against the decisions that I have made, so I cannot take a job right now," he added.

Sarabjot's dedication to his sport is evident, particularly in an exclusive interview with India Today, where he shared his long-term goal of winning gold at the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028. Reflecting on his journey, he acknowledged that while the Paris Olympics were a significant milestone, his ultimate goal remains unfulfilled.

"I am yet to achieve my main goal. Hopefully, I will complete my main goal in 2028. I used to write in my personal diary that I will give my personal best in Paris. However, I am yet to give my personal best. I want to shoot for gold in 2028," Sarabjot told India Today.
