Digital Desk: In a historic feat that reverberated across the cricketing world, former India captain Virat Kohli achieved an unprecedented milestone by securing his 50th ODI century, becoming the first cricketer to achieve such a remarkable record. The iconic India's No. 3 surpassed the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, his childhood hero, in this extraordinary accomplishment.
While many believe Kohli's record might be insurmountable, former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal holds a different opinion. Speaking on ARY News, Akmal expressed his belief that Pakistan's batting sensation, Babar Azam, has the potential to break Kohli's record.
"Vo (record) top-3 waale he tod sakte hai 50 hundred ka. Middle-order batsman nahi tod payega. Hamare paas Babar (Azam) hai vo kar sakta hai. Top-3 mein khelta hai. Unke paas abhi (Shubman) Gill hai, vo peeche lag sakta hai is record ke,” Akmal said.
Meanwhile, after achieving the historic milestone, Virat Kohli expressed his elation, stating, "The great man just congratulated me. It feels like a dream. Too good to be true. Big game for us and I played the role so that the guys around me can come and express themselves."
Kohli, who played a pivotal role in India's innings, emphasized his commitment to team success, saying, "For me, the most important thing is to make my team win. I’ve been given a role in this tournament, and I’m trying to dig deep. That’s the key to consistency—play according to the situation and play for the team."
