Digital Desk: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has staged an incredible comeback story, rising from their 10th-place finish in the 2023 IPL season to reach the final in 2024. However, their impressive campaign hit a snag in the final showdown against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), widely regarded as the top-performing team in the tournament. KKR clinched their third IPL title after dismissing SRH for a mere 113 runs.
Throughout the tournament, SRH showcased formidable batting performances, including three scores exceeding 260, spearheaded by Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma's aggressive approach during powerplays. Nevertheless, their aspirations crumbled on the grand stage. Led by Pat Cummins, SRH faced early setbacks as Mitchell Starc and Vaibhav Arora dismantled their top order.
The batting lineup faltered, leading to a dismal total of 113 runs before KKR effortlessly chased it down in under 11 overs. The one-sided affair left SRH supporters and ownership emotionally distraught. Despite her visible emotions, SRH owner Kavya Maran gracefully acknowledged KKR's victory, briefly turning away from the camera to compose herself before applauding the opposition.
The defeat marked SRH's second loss in an IPL final, having previously won in 2016 and suffered defeats in 2018 and now in the latest summit clash.
