South African allrounder Lance Klusener will take over as Tripura's head of cricket operations for the 2019 season.
TCA vice president Timir Chanda said he will visit the state capital on Saturday to discuss general growth with the state's cricketers. His specific classification, however, has not been revealed because he has yet to sign the contract.
In addition to working with the Ranji team, the 51-year-old will be in charge of the state's eight teams at various age groups in both the men's and women's sections.
Klusener will stay for a total of 20 days to monitor and advise the cricketers. In a media interview, Chanda claimed that Klusener will be offered a 100-day contract that he would sign on Sunday.
"We put out an expression of interest for a coach for our cricketers in March of this year."Dav Whatmore and Klusener initially expressed interest in collaborating with TCA.
Later, on personal issues, Whatmore withdrew, but Klusener decided to work with the local cricketers," he claimed. "We hope that his extensive international experience will benefit the cricketers." Our cricketers are also looking forward to working with Klusener."
The South African swift bowler lefthander, known for his aggressive batting, played 49 Tests and 171 One-Day Internationals. He formerly worked as South Africa's and Zimbabwe's batting coach, as well as Afghanistan's head coach for the 2021
T20 World Cup.
