MS Dhoni reunites with 2007 T20 World Cup's title-winning hero Joginder Sharma after 'almost 12 years', photos go viral
In the 2007 T20 World Cup final, Joginder Sharma’s decisive over and Dhoni’s strategic brilliance were pivotal to India's triumph.

Digital Desk: Former India captain MS Dhoni recently reunited with Joginder Sharma, the hero of the final over from the 2007 T20 World Cup. Joginder Sharma took to Instagram to share moments from their reunion, expressing his happiness at reconnecting with Dhoni after 12 years.

He paired his post with an old Hindi song, “Ae Yaar Sunn Yaari Teri,” and captioned it, “It was wonderful to meet Dhoni after such a long time. The joy of reconnecting after almost 12 years was truly special.”

In the 2007 T20 World Cup final, Joginder Sharma’s decisive over and Dhoni’s strategic brilliance were pivotal to India's triumph. The intense final against Pakistan in Johannesburg highlighted Dhoni's tactical expertise. Facing a high-pressure situation, Dhoni made a bold decision to entrust the final over to Joginder Sharma, a relatively inexperienced bowler, instead of a more seasoned player. This choice initially surprised many, but Dhoni’s confidence in his strategy was clear.

Joginder started the over with a wide ball, adding to the tension. A dot ball followed, but then Misbah-ul-Haq hit a six, leaving Pakistan needing just six runs from the last four balls. Despite the pressure, Dhoni remained calm, advising Joginder to stick to the plan.

On the fourth ball, Misbah attempted a risky scoop shot over fine leg. The ball seemed to hang in the air, but Sreesanth, placed at short fine leg, caught it, dismissing Misbah and securing India’s victory by five runs.

Dhoni’s decision to rely on Joginder Sharma for the final over turned out to be a masterstroke, reflecting his deep understanding of the game and his players. His composure under pressure and willingness to make bold choices were crucial in leading India to their first T20 World Cup title and solidified Dhoni’s reputation as one of the sport’s most insightful captains.
