Digital Desk: Tokyo 2020 Olympics silver medalist Mirabai Chanu will lead a five-member Indian contingent to the World Weightlifting Championships in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in 2023. The Riyadh meet, which takes place from September 4 to 17, is a qualifying tournament for the Paris 2024 Olympics, according to Olympics.com. Chanu will compete in the women's 49kg category. While, Bindyarani Devi, the 2021 Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships gold medalist, will compete in the women's 55kg event.

On the other hand, the men's team includes Achinta Sheuli, who will participate in the 73kg class alongside reigning national champion Narayana Ajith. Shubham Todkar, who won gold in the 61kg category at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships in New Delhi, will also compete.

Youth Olympic Games champion Jeremy Lalrinnunga, will not compete for India in the 2023 World Weightlifting Championships owing to injuries.
