Digital Desk: Once again, adverse weather conditions have disrupted proceedings in the Indian Premier League, as rain has postponed the toss for Match 70 between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders in Guwahati on Sunday.

Before the toss even occurred, Rajasthan Royals conceded their second position to the Sunrisers Hyderabad, as the latter convincingly defeated Punjab Kings, climbing up the points table.

Contingent upon weather conditions, Rajasthan Royals could reclaim their position by defeating Kolkata Knight Riders at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium. However, this is contingent on the rain subsiding.

Presently, Rajasthan Royals hold the third position with 16 points from 13 games. Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad secured the second spot with 17 points from 14 T20s, concluding their league campaign.

In the event of a match washout between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders, the Sunrisers will solidify their spot and confront Kolkata Knight Riders in Qualifier 1 on May 21.

Moreover, the departure of star England opener Jos Buttler for national duty leaves a significant void in their lineup.

The burden of reviving their fortunes falls on the shoulders of their top three batters: Yashasvi Jaiswal, skipper Sanju Samson, and local hero Riyan Parag. Their performance will be pivotal in snapping the losing streak and securing a top-two finish, granting them two opportunities to progress to the final.

Regarding the IPL playoffs format, the top two teams in the points table will compete in Qualifier 1. The victor of this encounter in Ahmedabad on Tuesday will secure a direct berth in the final on Sunday in Chennai. Conversely, the teams placed third and fourth will face off in the eliminator at Ahmedabad on Wednesday. The winner of this match will challenge the losing team from Qualifier 1 in Qualifier 2 at Chennai on Friday.
