'Delhi sach mai dil walo ki hai': Rashid Khan thanks crowd for incredible support after Afghanistan’s historic win over England
Meanwhile, this might mark England's biggest shock in World Cup history.

Digital Desk: Afghanistan created history after defeating England by 69 runs yesterday at Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium to win their first World Cup match.

In order to thank the crowd at the Arun Jaitley Stadium for their tremendous support throughout the game, Afghan spinner Rashid Khan, who played a crucial part in defeating the defending champions, posted a message on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Delhi sach mein dil walon ki hai. A huge thank you to all the fans at the stadium who supported us and kept us going throughout the game. And to all our supporters around the thank you for your love.” Rashid wrote.

Additionally, Afghanistan now has two victories in ODI World Cups since they first participated in 2015. Their first victory came against Scotland in Dunedin. The victory also put an end to Afghanistan's 14-match losing record, which included defeats to Bangladesh and India in the 2023 tournament.

Meanwhile, this might mark England's biggest shock in World Cup history. When they were successful in exceeding the challenging target of 328 runs during the 2011 ODI World Cup match against Ireland, it was yet another surprise.

After the outcome of the match from yesterday, England sits in fifth place, followed by Afghanistan in sixth.
