Rishabh Pant likely to be discharged from hospital this week: Report

Digital Desk: Team India's star wicketkeeper-batsman, Rishabh Pant, is recovering well from his injuries suffered in a tragic car accident last year in December. Pant is expected to be released from the hospital this week, which is great news for his fans. He posted an update on social media a few days ago regarding his recovery. The 25-year-old is currently being treated at Mumbai's Kokilaben Hospital, where he underwent surgery.

"He is doing pretty well. It’s good news from the medical team. The first surgery was successful, and that is what everyone wanted to hear. He will be discharged this week," a senior BCCI official was quoted as saying by InsideSport.

According to the same report, Pant will have a second surgery in March to fix the torn ACL in his right knee.

"He will need another surgery in about a month. Doctors will decide when it is right to have the 2nd surgery. BCCI Medical team is in constant touch with Dr Pardiwala and the hospital. We hope to see him back on the field soon," the official added.

Pant is expected to be out for the next six months, or the majority of 2023, including this year's IPL and ODI World Cup in India.

"We're not even thinking about his return right now. His recovery is the main concern. It's still too early to predict his comeback date. It will take 8 to 9 months.  But we're crossing our fingers that he'll be healthy in time for the World Cup. However, it appears improbable," a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.

Rishabh Pant was driving from Delhi to Uttarakhand when his car collided with a divider at Roorkee. After initially being admitted in Dehradun for a few days, the star player was airlifted to Mumbai for treatment of his injuries.
