    Guwahati: Assam State Minister Bimal Bora announces a cash award of Rs.50 lakhs and a first-grade government job to Lovlina, as per Assam sports policy, following her entry in the semi-finals of Tokyo Olympics 2020. 





    Post her win; there has been a jubilant atmosphere in her home state as she has been assured of a medal.





    Assam Athlete Lovlina Borgohain beats Chen Nien-chin (4-1) at the women's welterweight quarterfinal at Tokyo Olympics 2020, becoming the first woman from Assam to secure an Olympic medal.





    She played her match against Chen Nien-chin, who is a Taiwanese middleweight boxer. 





    As the news arrives concerning her confirmation into the semi-finals, the leaders and other delegates posted congratulatory posts over social media platforms.
