Digital Desk: Sachin Tendulkar congratulated India's batting ace Virat Kohli on equaling Tendulkar's incredible record of 49 One Day International (ODI) centuries at the ongoing ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023. Tendulkar took to Instagram to express his delight at Kohli's achievement, expressing his hope that Kohli would break the mark shortly.

Virat Kohli's remarkable century came during a vital match against South Africa at Kolkata's iconic Eden Gardens. Kohli's unbroken 101 off 121 balls, which featured ten boundaries, was not only a monument to his extraordinary talent but also a celebration of his 35th birthday.

In a heartwarming Instagram post, Sachin Tendulkar praised Kohli's performance, saying, "Well played Virat. Earlier this year, I went from 49 to 50 in 365 days. I'm hoping you'll break my record and go from 49 to 50 in the following few days. Congratulations!!"

Despite drawing level with Tendulkar in ODI centuries, Kohli trails Tendulkar by 21 tonnes in international hundreds (100). Kohli now has 79 international hundreds, including an epic century against South Africa in this World Cup match.

In addition to this remarkable achievement, Kohli has established himself as India's leading run-scorer in the present World Cup. As India leads the World Cup 2023 points table, there is anticipation that Kohli will become one of just two Indians to win the competition twice if India wins the championship. Only Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin remain from the 2011 World Cup winning team among the current 15-man squad.

Kohli's journey to his century saw him surpass legendary Sri Lankan batsman Kumar Sangakkara in terms of runs scored in ODI World Cups, making him the competition's third-highest scorer.
