Gill will move to Nagpur to join the squad for the forthcoming Test series against Australia.
Digital Desk: Shubman Gill has gone from being a promising talent to being regarded as India's next batting superstar in the last month.
Things have changed for young Gill, who has been in ominous touch across formats.
Gill scored his first T20I century against New Zealand in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
On his path to an unbeaten 123*, Gill broke a number of records and won millions of hearts.
But it was a plea made by a fan from the stands at the Narendra Modi stadium that stole the show.
"Tinder Shubman se Match Karado," the girl's placard said.
Gill was named player of the match for his record-breaking maiden century.
"It feels fantastic to practise and see it pay off. I was betting on myself to win big."
It didn't happen in the Sri Lanka series, but I'm glad it did today. Everyone has a distinct method for hitting sixes.
Hardik bhai encouraged me to play my game and not do anything extra, and he continued to support me.
There is no fatigue when representing your country.
"It was my ambition to play for India, and I am very blessed to be a part of the team in all three formats," Gill said after the game.
Gill will move to Nagpur to join the squad for the forthcoming Test series against Australia.
The first Test will begin on February 9 in Nagpur.
