The 24-year-old cricketer expressed his ambitions for the coming year, including achieving the 'most hundreds for India,' making his family happy, giving his best effort while being less hard on himself, winning the World Cup for India, and clinching the Orange Cap in the Indian Premier League 2023.

Reflecting on the past year, Gill took to Instagram again, sharing his handwritten note and expressing gratitude for the fun and valuable learnings he gained in 2023. Despite some unexpected challenges toward the end of the year, Gill acknowledged the team's commendable efforts, coming close to their set goals. Looking ahead to 2024, he expressed hope that the team would get closer to achieving their aspirations.

Gill's leadership journey took an unexpected turn as he was handed the captaincy duties after Hardik Pandya's return to Mumbai Indians. The 'Little Prince' of Ahmedabad embraced this new responsibility with determination.

On the field, Gill's remarkable performances showcased his cricketing prowess. Amassing 1373 runs in 33 innings at an average of 47.34, with three centuries and eight fifties, he left an indelible mark. The previous IPL season was particularly monumental for Gill as he clinched the Orange Cap with an impressive tally of 890 runs in 17 matches, boasting an average of 59.33, including three centuries and four fifties.

His excellence extended to the ODI World Cup 2023, where Gill contributed significantly by scoring 354 runs in nine matches for the host nation, India. His best score of 92 runs, achieved against Sri Lanka, highlighted his crucial role in the extravagant tournament.

As Gill and the Indian cricket team look forward to the challenges and opportunities of 2024, the young opener's journey in 2023 stands as a testament to resilience, determination, and a pursuit of excellence in the sport he loves.
