Snehashis Ganguly, the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal, did not respond to the summons handed to him...
Digital Desk: Snehasish Ganguly, president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), was summoned by the Kolkata Police on Thursday for questioning in connection with the black sale of cricket World Cup tickets.
Snehasish Ganguly, the brother of former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly, did not respond to the notification, according to police sources.
Snehasish Ganguly was given 24 hours to appear in court. If he does not appear before the authorities tonight, the police stated another notification would be given to the CAB president.
On Friday, two BookMyShow employees obeyed to the summons and appeared at the police station. The claims were investigated by a special team from the Kolkata Police Detective Department.
"To date, the Kolkata Police have seized 94 cricket World Cup tickets, and 16 people have been arrested for alleged involvement in ticket black marketing." So far, seven different cases have been reported," stated a senior police official.
Following a complaint, the police filed a case on Wednesday.
According to the complainant, BookMyShow, CAB, and BCCI officials reserved a considerable number of tickets intended for the general public, making them available to black-marketers for personal gain.
As a result, the general public was unable to obtain tickets for India's next match against South Africa at Eden Gardens on November 5.
Aside from Snehasish Ganguly, the summons was issued to CAB and BookMyShow, asking for the appearance of competent personnel at Maidan police station on Thursday.
However, CAB officials did not present at the police station as required, instead sending a response via email. In their statement, they denied responsibility for the ticket distribution procedure and any dealings with BookMyShow, claiming that these items fell under the authority of the BCCI.
Following this, the police sent another notice to CAB, requiring their appearance for questioning.
