Suryakumar Yadav nominated for ICC's men's T20I cricketer of the year award
Mohammad Rizwan of Pakistan, who amassed 960 runs in 25 matches, has also been named to the four-man list in addition to these three players. Rizwan won the award in 2021.

Digital Desk: Indian batsman Surykumar Yadav has been nominated for ICC Men's T20I Cricketer of the Year. Along with Sikandar Raza, Sam Curran, and Mohammad Rizwan, players who had an outstanding 2022, Suryakumar is the only player from India to get a nomination. With 1164 runs scored, the Indian right-handed batsman was miles ahead of his compatriots. The closest to Surya was Virat Kohli, who made 781 runs, including a century against Afghanistan in the 2022 Asia Cup, but had a severe lack of numbers against the latter.

Surya's total of 68 sixes in T20Is during the calendar year is by far the most anyone has ever scored within that period. Yadav was the best men's T20I batter in the year with two hundreds and nine half-centuries.

Sam Curran, the player of the T20 World Cup and champion of the competition, is another contender for the honour alongside Surya. Throughout the T20 World Cup, Curran was outstanding and dominated the statistics for taking wickets. Despite being the underdog on this list, Sikandar Raza enjoyed the finest T20 cricket season ever for a Zimbabwean.

In just 24 matches, Raza has 735 runs and 25 wickets.

Mohammad Rizwan of Pakistan, who amassed 960 runs in 25 matches, has also been named to the four-man list in addition to these three players. Rizwan won the award in 2021.

After a generally subpar year for Indian cricket, none of the other players from India have been picked. The Indian squad, despite having a fantastic global record in 2022, was unable to establish its dominance in the international competition. In every series he participated in in 2022, Suryakumar Yadav stood out as the lineup's best batter and produced multiple noteworthy hits.
