IND Vs NZ: Suryakumar Yadav within striking distance of overtaking all-time ICC record of Dawid Malan

Digital Desk: Suryakumar Yadav has defined the self as the top batsman in the T20 format after multiple match-winning performances for India. Surya has achieved everything in the shortest format of international cricket in the last year.

Surya has accomplished everything, from becoming the number one batsman in the ICC Men's T20I Batsmen Rankings to being named the ICC Men's T20I Player of the Year. 

Suryakumar Yadav's reign at the top of the ICC Men's T20I Player Rankings continues, as he has now attained the highest position of his career.

Surya now has 908 ranking points and is only two points away from surpassing the record for most ranking points. Dawid Malan holds the record for the most T20I ranking points. When Dawid Malan was the number one T20I batsman, he had 910 ranking points, the most of any player in history. 

Surya still has the third T20 International against New Zealand to play, and if he scores another half-century, he would easily break Dawid Malan's record.

Surya has won India T20I matches at will over the last year. Surya has been instrumental in India's success in the T20I format, and his inventive batting has transformed 20-over cricket. Surya doesn't leave any region of the ground unexplored for shots, and he always has two pairs of shorts for every ball. Suryakumar will want to continue his strong form against New Zealand in the T20I series decider. 

Dawid Johannes Malan, born on 3rd September 1987, is an English cricketer who represents his country in all formats.

In domestic cricket, he plays for Yorkshire after formerly representing Middlesex, and he has also played in other Twenty20 competitions, including for Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League.

Malan debuted in the Test and Twenty20 International (T20I) formats in 2017, and the One Day International (ODI) format in 2019. His ICC Men's Player Rankings rating of 915 in 2020 remains the format's record high. He was a member of the England side that won the T20 World Cup in 2022.

Malan bats left-handed in the top order and bowls leg breaks on occasion. He is only one of four Englishmen to have scored a T20I century.
