Team India stranded in Barbados due to Hurricane Beryl: Special Air India chartered flight arrives in Barbados to bring back the team
Notably, due to the World Cup-winning squad being stranded in the West Indies, BCCI replaced Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shivam Dube, and Sanju Samson with Sai Sudharsan, Jitesh Sharma, and Harshit Rana for the first two T20 International matches.

Digital Desk: A special chartered flight operated by Air India has landed at Barbados Airport to bring back the victorious Men in Blue cricket team, who had been stranded in Barbados since their T20 World Cup win on June 29. The flight was dispatched to the Caribbean islands due to flight cancellations caused by Hurricane Beryl.

In addition to the cricket team, the special flight will also accommodate media personnel who had traveled to Barbados to cover the T20 World Cup but found themselves stranded following the hurricane.

Rajeev Shukla, Vice-president of the BCCI, initially announced the arrangement of this special chartered flight on Tuesday. He mentioned that the flight would arrive in Barbados on Wednesday evening, and the entire operation is being overseen by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Shukla wrote, “Thank God team India is flying back from Barbados this evening to Delhi. Will be reaching tomorrow evening . They were stuck for three days there because of massive hurricane."

“@BCCI has made all arrangements for safe flight of players back home. BCCI secretary @JayShah himself is monitoring the whole situation." Shukla added.

Following the World Cup triumph in Barbados last week, India made significant changes ahead of the upcoming India vs Zimbabwe series.

The victory in Barbados marked a historic achievement as Rohit Sharma's India clinched the T20 World Cup title after a 17-year wait. Following this success, veteran cricketers Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja announced their retirement from the shortest format of the game.

Additionally, the World Cup signaled the conclusion of Rahul Dravid's tenure as India's coach. While Dravid's role officially ended after the 2023 ODI World Cup, he received a short-term extension for the 20-over tournament held in June.
