Tokyo: Emma McKeon from Australia became the first female swimmer to win seven medals at a single Olympic Games on Sunday. Emma has become the first female swimmer and second in any other sport, who has won seven medals in one Olympics. She acclaimed four gold medals and three bronze for her country.

In the 1952 Helsinki games, Soviet Gymnast Maria Gorokhovskaya was the only other woman to win seven medals in any sport, two golds, and five silver medals.

“It still feels very surreal,” “It’s going to take a little bit to sink in. I’m very proud of myself.” “I look at the athletes who have come before me and been so impressed with what they have done and been inspired by what they have done, but I’ve never really looked at the stats of medal counts." "It is an honour because I know I’ve worked so hard for it,” McKeon said.

McKeon's victory also delivered Australian swimmers an eighth gold medal in Tokyo.
