Digital Desk: In the U19 World Cup 2022 semi-final, India defeated Australia by 96 runs on Wednesday. With this victory, India entered the ICC U19 World Cup finals.
India made wining scenes in consecutive terms. The fourth-time winners entered their fourth successive final and eighth overall.
Indian captain Yash Dhull won the toss and bat first at Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua. The openers Harnoor Singh (16) and Angkrish Raghuvanshi (6) left cheaply before vice-captain Shaik Rasheed (94), and Dhull (110) ruled the track and counted 204 runs for the third wicket to position up a significant score for the team.
Dinesh Bana, Rajvardhan Hangargekar and Nishant Sindhu concluded off the innings. With this, India established an imposing target of 291 for Australia.
The Australia team needed a powerful beginning in the powerplay to contest India, which they didn't reach, as the Dhull-led flank put on a ruthless bowling and fielding skit to bowl them out for 194 in 41.5 overs. Lachlan Shaw, with 51, set up a fight, but the Australia team failed to maintain the required run rate.
Now, India is all set to face England in the final match in U19 World Cup 2022. The final match will be held on February 5, 2022, at Sir Viv Richards Stadium, North Sound, in Antigua.
Moreover, the England team has a tense semi-final with Afghanistan. England managed to beat off Afghanistan by 15 runs in U19 World Cup 2022.
