Digital Desk: The Uttar Pradesh government has declared plans to construct a cricket stadium in Sahaspur Alinagar, the village of Team India's fast bowler Mohammed Shami. The announcement came after Shami's exceptional performance in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed the initiative after Shami's spectacular seven-wicket haul against New Zealand, securing India's spot in the tournament final.
Shami, who became the fastest Indian bowler to reach 50 wickets in ICC World Cup history during his 17th innings, has received accolades for his remarkable achievements. The decision to build a mini-stadium and open gym in Shami's hometown is being hailed as a significant gesture from CM Yogi Adityanath.
District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar Tyagi stated, "This is CM Yogi Adityanath’s big gift to Shami, who performed brilliantly in the World Cup." Officials have already scouted locations in Sahaspur Alinagar, and the file for the construction project has been submitted to the government for approval.
The proposed mini-stadium and open gym are expected to not only honor Shami's accomplishments but also provide a platform for budding cricketers in the region. As the district administration officials conduct site visits and await approval, anticipation and excitement are palpable in Shami's village, where his family resides. The initiative reflects the state's recognition of sporting excellence and its commitment to promoting cricket at the grassroots level.
