Digital Desk: Senior Indian batter Virat Kohli explained the cosmic significance of his jersey number 18. With nearly 15 years of experience playing for his country in international cricket, Kohli is widely considered the best batter of the current era across all formats.

Senior Indian batter Virat Kohli revealed the cosmic connection he has with his jersey number 18. Kohli is widely regarded as the best batter of modern times across formats, having played close to 15 years of international cricket.

Kohli first gained prominence when India won the ICC U19 World Cup in Malaysia in 2008. He then made his senior men's team debut in a bilateral ODI series against Sri Lanka. Since then, only Sachin Tendulkar (34357) has scored more runs for India in international cricket than he has (25322).

It's interesting to note that since he began competing at a higher level, Kohli has been sporting the jersey with the number 18 printed behind it for both India and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL.

When asked about the meaning of the number and his cosmic link to it, Kohli said on Star Sports, "there had to be a cosmic connection with this number. Honestly, seeing that many people wearing my name and jersey number on them still makes me feel rather out of place. I never thought I would be in this situation one day, so it's extremely surreal. When I was a kid, I wanted to put on my favourite player's jersey."

"To be honest, when I initially opened the India U19 jersey, 18 was just a number given to me. It was just handed to me; I never asked for it. However, it ultimately turned out to be a crucial number in my life. I made my India debut on August 18, 2008. The 18th of December 2006 saw the death of my father. I was 18 on two of the most important dates in my life," he said.

With the help of Virat Kohli’s stunning century against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, the Royal Challengers Bangalore books their crucial win in yesterday’s match and is now standing at the 4th position on the points table passing Mumbai Indians.
