WWE Hall of Famer Triple H announces retirement from ring action

When asked what the future held for him, Triple H stated unequivocally, "I'm not going to - I'll never wrestle again. First and foremost, I have a defibrillator in my chest. It's probably not a good idea for me to get zapped on live television."

Digital Desk: Legendary WWE wrestler Triple H, AKA Paul Levesque, announced his retirement from in-ring combat and declared that he is done as an active wrestler. Last September, Levesque experienced a cardiac event, which led to his decision to leave the ring.

'The Game,' as Triple H is affectionately known, revealed that his heart problem was life-threatening and that he had gone into heart-failure, and that there were times when he worried if he would survive.

Levesque, 52, stated that he was suffering from pneumonia, which was filling his lungs and limbs with fluid. The typical cardiac ejection fraction is 55-60%, but Levesque's has fallen to 12 percent. "By the time I arrived to the emergency hospital, my ejection fraction had dropped to 22," Triple H said on ESPN's First Take with Stephen A. Smith.

"Which, I was in heart failure. Bad. By the next morning – as they figured that out that evening – by the next morning as they got the MRI done and they were sending me in for a heart scan. My ejection fraction was down to 12. So, I was nosediving and sort of at the one-yard line of where you want to be – or where you don't want to be, really, for your family and your future."

This implies that Triple H's most recent televised bout was at the 2019 WWE Super ShowDown versus Randy Orton. Triple H, a 14-time world champion, began his wrestling career in 1992. He spent two years with World Championship Wrestling before joining WWE as Hunter Hearst Helmsley. In 1997, he co-founded the notorious D-Generation X group with WWE Hall of Famer and close buddy Shawn Michaels.

In 1999, the game earned his first WWE championship, defeating Mick Foley in the main event of Raw. From then, he would skyrocket to superstardom. He went on to win the Royal Rumble twice (in 2002 and 2016), as well as main-event numerous WrestleManias.

Following The Undertaker, Triple H has competed in the most Hell in a Cell fights in WWE history, winning against the finest the business has to offer. After taking on the post of executive vice-president of the organisation, he resumed competing in the ring on a part-time basis in 2011. He is the executive producer of the NXT brand, and he is responsible for the show's success.
