AIFF election to be held on 2nd September, deadline for nominations is August 25th to September 1

Candidates can submit new nominations beginning on August 25 for the AIFF Executive Committee elections, which will be conducted on September 2.

Digital Desk: The AIFF Executive Committee elections will take place on September 2, and hopeful candidates can submit new nominations starting on August 25, according to the returning officer Umesh Sinha.

On Monday, the Supreme Court dismissed the Committee of Administrators (CoA), as requested by FIFA, and postponed the AIFF election by one week.

The returning officer, Umesh Sinha, issued a new notice clarifying the procedure hours after the SC order.

While the scrutiny will take place on Sunday, nominations for the positions may be submitted between Thursday and Saturday (August 28).

Candidates whose nominations are found to be legitimate will have the opportunity to withdraw their nominations on August 29, while the returning officer will produce the final list of contending candidates and post it on the AIFF website on August 30.

According to the returning officer's notification, the polls will be held on September 2 at the AIFF headquarters in New Delhi, and the results will be released on September 2 or 3.

AIFF was suspended by FIFA on August 15 for "undue third-party intervention," threatening the country's hosting of the U17 Women's World Cup in October.

The top court said on Monday that acting secretary general Sunando Dhar would oversee daily operations. The lifting of the AIFF ban and the hosting of the U-17 Women's World Cup in the nation depends on CoA's departure.

There will be no "eminent footballers" as individual voters, as per the new order, which is against FIFA regulations.

The implication of this judgment is that former captain Bhaichung Bhutia will have to come from a state unit to contest the election, as opposed to his previous filing as an outstanding player.
