    Assam continues to lead the medals tally on Day 3 of the second North East Olympic Games




    Digital Desk: At the conclusion of the third day of competition, Assam
    maintained its lead in the overall medal count at the 2nd North East Olympic
    Games 2022.



    Assam presently leads 2018 overall champion Manipur, which has 11 gold,
    12 silver, and 13 bronze medals, with 17 gold, 11 silver, and 9 bronze.



    With 7 gold, 6 silver,
    and 4 bronze medals, Arunachal Pradesh is in third place, followed by Mizoram
    in fourth place with 4 gold, 4 silver, and 8 bronze.



    Meghalaya, the
    first-place finisher, is second with 1 gold, 5 silver, and 9 bronze. Despite
    having 0 silver and 4 bronze, Nagaland trails Meghalaya in the medal count with
    just 1 gold.



    Tripura is in second
    place with 8 bronze medals, followed by Sikkim in seventh with 3 silver and 8
    bronze.



    The swimming performances of Assam's
    athletes in Crinoline Swimming Pool are responsible for their impressive haul
    of gold medals. Swimming champions from Assam included Angshuman Kashyap (100m
    breaststroke men), Disha Gogoi (100m breaststroke women), Darshita Baruah (50m
    backstroke women), Jananjoy Jyoti Hazarika (100m butterfly men), the men's
    4x50m medley relay, and the women's 4x50m medley relay. They added to their
    haul of six gold medals from Friday.



    Sarungbam Athouba Meitei of Manipur
    won the men's 50-meter backstroke for the only swimming gold that wasn't won by
    them.
