The BCCI will hold elections for five positions: president, vice president, secretary, joint secretary, and treasurer.
Digital Desk: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) revealed its election schedule for the upcoming three-year term on Saturday.
The electoral officer of the BCCI published a seven-page "notice of election timetable and request for full members (state associations) to file applications to nominate their respective representatives."
As a result, the deadline for submitting applications to nominate their delegate is October 4 at 6 p.m. The elections will take place on October 18, and the results will be announced the same day.
On October 5th, the BCCI will release a draught electoral role and will accept objections to any of the names in the draught for the next two days.
Following that, on October 13 afternoon, the nominations will be reviewed, and a list of valid candidates will be given at 7 PM on the same day. Candidates may withdraw their nominations between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on October 14. The final list of candidates will be announced on October 15.
The announcement also specified the seats for which elections will be held -
A) The president, vice president, secretary, joint secretary, and treasurer are all members of the executive committee.
B) Apex Council Member elected to a seat
C) Two elective positions on the Governing Council
The most intriguing part of the elections will be whether Jay Shah is nominated as the new BCCI President or if Sourav Ganguly retains his position.
The three-year cooling-off period for BCCI positions is no longer required.
