IPL legend Suresh Raina declares his retirement from all forms of cricket

Raina was unable to find a bidder, and unexpectedly, not even Chennai Super Kings offered to sign him.

Digital Desk: Suresh Raina, a former all-rounder for India, declared his retirement from all forms of the game on Wednesday. Through a message on social media, the 35-year-old made the news official.

Raina appreciated the BCCI, the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association, the Chennai Super Kings, BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla, and the supporters on his official Twitter account for their support throughout his cricketing career.

It was an amazing honour to represent my nation and state of Uttar Pradesh. I would like to declare that I am leaving all forms of cricket. For their everlasting belief in my ability and support, @BCCI, @UPCACricket, @ChennaiIPL, @ShuklaRajiv sir, and all of my fans are appreciated, Raina tweeted.

At the Super Players' Auction earlier this year, Raina, one of the most well-known players in the Indian Premier League (IPL), failed to find a buyer. Unexpectedly, not even Chennai Super Kings made an offer for the player who had previously given honour to their team.

It was previously reported that Raina will likely play in T20 competitions in South Africa, Sri Lanka, and the United Arab Emirates.

In the forthcoming season of the Road Safety World Series, which begins on September 10, the former Indian cricketer will join the squad captained by master blaster Sachin Tendulkar.

Raina's international career extended for 13 years, during which he represented India in 18 Tests, 226 ODIs, and 78 T20Is. He was even given the opportunity to captain the squad, and he provided the expected results. For India, he has 5615 runs from 226 ODIs and 1605 runs from 78 T20Is.

Raina, affectionately known as Mr. IPL, retired as the first Indian to score hundreds in all three versions of the game, all of which were scored outside of India.
