    Digital Desk: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the T20 World Cup 2022, starting October 16 in Australia due to a back injury. The Indian Cricket Board promised to name Bumrah's replacement as soon as possible.

    Due to a back ailment, Bumrah was unable to participate in a three-match series against South Africa in September and October. The team management was hoping that the best fast bowler would recuperate in time and be prepared for India's World Cup campaign, head coach Rahul Dravid had stated on October 1.

    Dravid steadfastly declined to elaborate on the specifics and severity of the back issue.

    Bumrah left the India team for the first T20I in Thiruvananthapuram on September 28 and went to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

    In a release on Monday, BCCI stated that "the decision was made after a thorough examination and in consultation with the specialists."

    The 28-year-old fast bowler follows Ravindra Jadeja, who is recuperating from knee surgery, as the second senior star player to be ruled out.

    When loading, Bumrah's slinging motion exerts a lot of strain on his back. Michael Holding, a former star of the West Indies pace bowling team, determined that Bumrah was prone to back ailments.

    Notably, Bumrah missed the UAE's September Asia Cup campaign owing to a back injury. To be safe, the BCCI decided to rest Bumrah from the continental tournament in light of the upcoming T20 World Cup.

    In a T20I series against Australia in September, Bumrah played competitive cricket for the first time since the tour of England in July. With 50 runs conceded in his 4-over allotment during the third T20I, the fast bowler showed signs of rust. Bumrah's yorker against Aaron Finch in the second T20I raised hopes for a comeback to form.
