His legacy reminds us of the importance of self-reliance, courage,...
Digital Desk: When he takes the
field against Pakistan in the Asia Cup on Sunday night, star Indian batter
Virat Kohli will become the first Indian to play 100 international matches in
every format of international cricket. In actuality, only Ross Taylor of New
Zealand had before accomplished this feat. KL Rahul, India's vice-captain,
spoke about the legendary batsman and his legacy before Kohli's historic game.
Rahul claimed that the former captain is the reason the squad is where it is
now.

Cup match, Rahul told Star Sports, "He is the first Indian to do this,
he's obviously been our leader for a long time and he's guided this young
Indian team to where we are today and made us realise that we can always push
the boundaries, push the barrier, and try and be better in terms of
skill."

mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"">After taking a month off from
cricket, Kohli is now back in action. During that time, he missed a
limited-overs tour of the West Indies and an ODI series in Zimbabwe.

attempting to regain his form and put a prolonged lean period behind him.
In addition to his upcoming 100th T20I, Kohli has played 262
ODIs and 102 Tests since making his international debut in a 50-over match
against Sri Lanka in 2008. He also has 102 Test caps.
The management of the Indian squad would be counting on him
to have a successful Asia Cup campaign and enter the T20 World Cup in 2022 with
some momentum.
