Digital Desk: Today, The Australia-South Africa Champions Trophy match was called off even before the toss occurred because of incessant rain in Rawalpindi.
ICC confirmed the news through X, formerly known as Twitter, about match cancellation because of persistent rainfall in Rawalpindi and wrote “Incessant rain forces the Group B #ChampionsTrophy contest between Australia and South Africa to be called off."
It has been raining since the morning , thus preventing ground personnel from preparing the stadium for play. The game ended as heavy rains took over the field leaving both teams with one point each.
The three-point split between South Africa and Australia places both teams in second and first positions of Group B respectively. The weather conditions led the Cricket World Cup match between England and Afghanistan to become an essential final game for the tournament
