Guwahati : All preparation has been made to start the second edition of India Open Boxing Tournament 2019 at the Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati.
World class pugilists from across the globe have already arrived in the city including our very own four-time Asian Championship medallist, Shiva Thapa for the Second India Open International Boxing tournament. 200 players from 16 countries will take part in the first-ever international boxing event to be organized at Karmabir Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Indoor Stadium, Sarusajai in association with the Boxing Federation of India.

Thapa and Kom expressed their excitement to play amidst the home crowd during the five-day long tournament. Kom has arrived in the city early to train and acclimatize as she sets her sights on the 51 kg gold.
The opening ceremony of the tournament will be organized at 5:30 pm. Assam Education minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya will be the guest of honour while Ajay Singh, chairperson of Spicejet and Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will be present in the closing ceremony.
“For me, it’s feeling like homecoming and I am extremely excited to be able to play here in Guwahati. I hope there will be a tremendous support for all the Indian boxers,” said celebrated boxer Kom while addressing a presser here on May 19th, 2019.
