T20 World Cup: Mohammad Siraj lands in Australia to join team India
Team India's T20 World Cup campaign will get started against Pakistan on October 23 in Melbourne.

Digital Desk: Indian fast bowler Mohammad Siraj arrives in Brisbane to join the Rohit Sharma-led team ahead of the T20 World Cup.

As Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the 15-member squad owing to a back issue, Siraj was added to the 15-member squad. As Bumrah's replacement, Mohammed Shami, who had been named as the travelling reserve, was promoted to the main squad.

After travelling reserve Deepak Chahar suffered an injury during the T20I series against South Africa, the BCCI also added Shardul Thakur to its list of standby players. In the third and final T20I match against South Africa earlier this month, Chahar suffered back stiffness.

Shreyas Iyer and Ravi Bishnoi, who recently participated in India's 2-1 ODI series victory over South Africa, will represent India as the other two standby players for the T20 World Cup.

Following his outstanding performances against South Africa, Siraj was thought to have the best chance of replacing Bumrah in India's 15-person T20 World Cup squad. Last month, Siraj replaced Bumrah in the Indian T20I squad for the three-match series against South Africa as a like-for-like substitute.

Siraj, who has only participated in six T20 international matches for India, recorded the numbers 3/38 and 2/17 in the second and third ODIs against South Africa.

India's T20 World Cup campaign will get started against Pakistan on October 23 in Melbourne. At the recent Asia Cup, the two arch-rivals faced off twice, with India winning the first match by five wickets and Pakistan responding with a five-wicket victory in the second.
