Virat Kohli accomplished yet another history, becoming the only Indian batter to score 1000 runs in the T20 World Cup.
Digital Desk: Virat Kohli, who has been on a roll, was unable to recreate his performance today against South Africa in the T20 World Cup, Super 12 match in Perth.
The star striker India batsman was bowled for 12 runs off 11 balls by Lungi Ngidi. Despite his early removal, Kohli went on to make another history, becoming the fastest and only Indian hitter to reach 1000 runs in the T20 World Cup.
Kohli was dismissed on the fifth delivery of the seventh over as the bowler hit it short and Kohli tried to lift it. However, he was unable to connect as Rabada made a brilliant catch, leaving Indian fans dissatisfied.
Kohli completed the feat in 24 matches, passing Sri Lanka icon Mahela Jayawardene, who was previously at the top of the record. The former Sri Lanka captain had done the same in 31 matches.
Rohit Sharma is the second Indian to get close to Kohli, with 965 runs from 33 matches.
Tilakaratne Dilshan, another former Sri Lanka cricketer, is one of the top five run scorers in the T20 World Cup. He has 897 runs from 35 matches.
