Digital Desk: The year's first lunar eclipse (Chandra Grahan) is going to occur on May 5. A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth's shadow covers a much larger area than the Moon's. This will be a lunar penumbral eclipse, meaning that the moon will not be exactly opposite the Earth and Sun, signifying an 'umbral' eclipse, in which the Sun completely blocks the Sun's brightness. As per EarthSky, the full Moon will be south of the planet's umbra, or dark shadow, on May 5. As a result, rather than being fully obscure, the Moon's radiance will be diminished.

This lunar eclipse will be visible from many locations throughout the world. This eclipse will be visible in Delhi's night sky between 8:44 p.m. on May 5 to 1:01 a.m. on May 6.
