Digital Desk: Instagram, the popular social media platform owned by Meta, is rolling out an exciting new feature that allows users to add song lyrics to their Instagram Reels. This feature, already familiar to Instagram Stories users, aims to enhance the creative expression of Instagram's vast user base. Instagram head, Adam Mosseri, made the official announcement via his Broadcast Channel.

This new addition comes after a series of feature tests that Instagram has been conducting over the past few weeks. Some of these tests have focused on revamping how users view their feeds, while others have explored collaborative posting. However, the introduction of song lyrics to Instagram Reels is particularly noteworthy, as it streamlines a process that users were already manually undertaking on the platform.

Mosseri expressed his hope that the song lyrics feature would make it easier for users to express themselves and further enrich their content. He also mentioned that the company is actively working on developing more features for Instagram Reels, promising even more exciting updates in the near future.

To add song lyrics to an Instagram Reel, users need to tap on the music icon while editing their video. They can then select a song and swipe left to add the lyrics. This functionality mirrors the Music feature already available in Instagram Stories, providing a seamless and user-friendly experience for those who are accustomed to adding song lyrics to their Stories.

In addition to the song lyrics feature, Instagram has been testing other innovative functionalities. One such feature allows users to invite friends to contribute to their feed posts, creating collaborative carousel posts. The invited users will see an option to 'Add to post' to include more images, fostering a sense of shared creativity.

Instagram is also working on a new feature that may allow users to see posts exclusively from verified accounts. This feature is being actively tested, with three options in mind: a feed from accounts users are following, a feed from their favorite accounts, and a feed from Meta Verified users. This move could help verified users, including companies and creators, gain more visibility and connect with their target audiences more effectively.

Recently, Instagram, along with its parent company Facebook, announced ad-free subscription plans for users in the European Union, European Economic Area, and Switzerland. These plans offer an ad-free experience for a monthly fee, catering to users who prefer a cleaner and more personalized browsing experience. Instagram continues to evolve, providing its users with more tools for creativity and customization while exploring new avenues for monetization and engagement.
