Digital Desk: Elon Musk took control of Twitter late on Thursday after concluding the transaction. One of his first acts as the microblogging site's owner was to fire key employees, including the CEO Parag Agrawal and the head for legal, public policy, trust, and safety at Twitter, Vijaya Gadde.
American media outlets who covered the story cited insiders with knowledge of the situation. According to reports in the Washington Post and CNBC, Parag Agrawal has been fired from his job with the organisation.
Agrawal succeeded Jack Dorsey, the company's co-founder, as CEO last November after being appointed to the position. Even when he owned the bulk of the company, Elon publicly criticised the management (9 per cent).
According to the report, Sean Edgett and the chief financial officer Ned Segal are included on the list. Edgett has served as Twitter's general counsel since 2012, and Segal joined the company in 2017.
After Musk decided to back out, it was Agrawal continued to work on the agreement and its related follow-up. Additionally, he was at the centre of Elon Musk's accusations that Twitter is concealing the number of bot accounts.
On that day, Musk visited the company's San Francisco offices and changed his Twitter handle to Chief Twit. He arrived at Twitter HQ holding a sink from the bathroom and a placard that said, "Entering Twitter HQ - let that sink in! ”
Musk also visited the office of a Twitter employee. Later, he also published a letter outlining the rationale behind his purchase of Twitter and his future goals for the service.
According to a rumour last week, Musk intends to lay off 75% of Twitter's workers following the takeover. While it appears that the process has begun, Musk has informed the microblogging site's staff that he does not intend to lay off 75% of the personnel. However, this does not imply that he will not reduce Twitter's current personnel.
