After cancelling around 1,500 trips, the man earned over Rs 23.3 lakh in 2022...
Digital Desk: An Uber driver has said that he earned money by cancelling customer rides. Not only this, but he had cancelled over 30% of the rides and accepted less than 10% of requests. To increase his income after retirement, the 70-year-old man decided to become an Uber driver.
He only agreed to carry out requests that he felt were worthy. It appears that he found success with this working method. After cancelling around 1,500 trips, the man earned over Rs 23.3 lakh in 2022.
However, he felt that surges in and around his neighbourhood have decreased in frequently. This is why he decreased his driving hours.
Earlier, the man used to work 40 hours a week, but over time he reduced that to thirty.
In an interview, he clarified, “I spend a lot of time saying no. I don’t work unless we have a surge.”
On Fridays and Saturdays, the driver positions himself in crowded locations like bars and airports between 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. But he avoids "one-way rides."
Recalling an incident, he stated that once he got paid Rs 2,246 for driving a customer from his city for almost two hours.
