Changing Traditions? 2 million users of this French extramarital affairs app are Indians

But did you ever think that there might be a dating app especially for extramarital affairs?...

Digital Desk: Dating online is nothing new in today's world, especially among young people. But did you ever think that there might be a dating app, especially for extramarital affairs?

A France-based extramarital dating app, Gleeden, is doing so. Not only that, but the app has garnered ten million users worldwide. And the interesting thing is that its 2 million users are all from India, which grew by 11 percent from September 2022.

The app claims to work on four values: security, anonymity, quality, and freedom, and it allows you to search for an affair in your area or a partner thousands of kilometers away. The app promises that it can safely connect you to users all across the world.

The app has users from all tiers of cities in India. According to the company's statistics, over 66% of the new users are from Tier 1 cities in India. The remaining 44% of new users are from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.

"India is a country that whilst worshipping marriages and monogamy, keeps growing as far as subscribers on the app. 2022 alone brought us + 18 percent new users, which went from 1.7 million in December 2021 to the current 2+ million," Sybil Shiddell, Country Manager India for Gleeden, said in a statement.

The app is specifically designed for married people. The increase in Indian users reflects how traditional concepts of monogamy are increasingly changing in the country. Gleeden was founded in 2009 by two French brothers and is now entirely controlled by women.
