A resident in Jhansi purchased 269 items in a single day, while a Bhubaneshwar household ordered 207 pizzas.

Digital Desk: It's almost time to say goodbye to 2023, and everyone is posting the most popular or trending videos from this year on YouTube and Google. Swiggy was not far behind as well and released a blog on ‘How India Swiggy’d in 2023’. This is the 8th consecutive "food wrap" released by the delivery app.

The blog claims that a Mumbai customer placed an incredible Rs 42.3 lakh meal order with Swiggy. The blog post said, "A Mumbai user placed food orders worth Rs 42.3 lakh (no, that's not a CTC)."

    What India ordered:

A resident in Jhansi purchased 269 items in a single day, while a Bhubaneshwar household ordered 207 pizzas.

On Valentine's Day, the entire nation purchased 271 cakes each minute, making Bengaluru the "Cake Capital" with 8.5 million chocolate cake orders.

During Durga Puja, 7.7 million orders of gulab jamun were consumed nationwide, while during Navratri, the popular masala dosa was the most popular vegetarian dish.

    India's love for biryani:

For the eighth time this year, biryani has reclaimed the top spot as the most-ordered food on Swiggy. In 2023, India placed 2.5 biryani orders every second. One Hyderabad resident took the lead, placing 1,633 biryani orders throughout the year. That's over four biryanis every day!

In the meantime, one vegetarian biryani was ordered for every 5.5 chicken biryanis.

Chandigarh placed the biggest biryani order, though. During the high-stress India vs. Pakistan match, a family from the city reportedly ordered 70 plates of biryani at once.
