    Digital Desk: The auspicious festival of Navratri is in full swing, and on the seventh day of this grand celebration, devotees across the country are worshipping Goddess Kalratri, also known as Goddess Shubhankari. This day holds immense significance as it commemorates the seventh incarnation of the mighty Goddess Durga, who assumed a ferocious form to vanquish the demons Shumbh and Nishumbh.

    Goddess Kalratri, a name that signifies "dark as night," is revered for her fierce appearance, characterized by her dark black complexion, three piercing eyes, unkempt hair, and four hands bearing the Abhaya and Varada mudras. In her left hand, she wields her astras, a formidable sword, and a deadly iron hook, showcasing her role as a destroyer of evil forces.

    Navratri, a festival celebrated twice a year, offers devotees the opportunity to worship the nine incarnations of Goddess Durga, collectively known as Navdurga. These manifestations include Shailaputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani, Kaalratri, Mahagauri, and Siddhidatri, each symbolizing different attributes and powers. The current celebration is Sharad Navratri, which falls in the months of September and October.

    The seventh day of Navratri falls on October 21 (Saturday) this year, coinciding with the Saptami Tithi. According to the Drik Panchang, the Saptami Tithi will be observed from 09:53 PM on October 21 to 07:58 PM on October 22.

    Goddess Kalratri, also known as Goddess Shubhankari, represents the fiercest form of Goddess Parvati. She is associated with the planet Shani and is revered as a divine luminary and an eternal source of wisdom. Devotees who worship Maa Kaalratri on this day are believed to receive her blessings in the form of Abhaya and Varada Mudras, signifying protection and granting of boons. Despite her fierce exterior, Goddess Kalratri is also known as Goddess Shubhankari due to her auspicious and benevolent nature.
