Digital Desk: Famous multilingual actor Prathap Pothen passed away on Friday after suffering a heart attack. The 70-year-old director, who produced remarkable hits in Tamil and Malayalam, "passed away in his sleep" after suffering a heart arrest, according to his wife, Amala Pothen. Pothen leaves behind his wife and a daughter.
The veteran actor-director was renowned for his unique line delivery and has worked with several notable actors in Tamil and Malayalam films, including Kamal Haasan in "Varumaiyin Niram Sivappu," which was directed by the famous K Balachander.
Among his other directorial works, Pothen directed the hit film "Vetri Vizha," starring Haasan. His Tamil movies include 'Meendum Oru Kathal Kathai,' 'Moodupani,' and 'Panneer Pushpangal,' and he played a variety of roles, including some with negative undertones, throughout his career.
