Bhupendra Chaudhary Appointed As UP BJP President; Rajib Bhattacharjee Is New Tripura BJP President

Digital Desk: Uttar Pradesh minister Bhupendra Chaudhary was appointed as the state's BJP president on Thursday.  In another key decision, Rajib Bhattacharjee has been appointed as Tripura BJP president. The appointments will take place with immediate effect.

In a letter, Arun Singh, the BJP's national general secretary, stated that the appointment was made with immediate effect by BJP chief JP Nadda. Swatantra Dev Singh, who was appointed a minister in the government of Uttar Pradesh, would be replaced by Chaudhary, who is now the Panchayati Raj Minister under the Yogi Adityanath government. He is a well-known Jat leader from western Uttar Pradesh. His nomination is seen as an effort to balance the state's power dynamics. More significantly, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is from eastern Uttar Pradesh.

The appointment also puts to rest rumours about KP Maurya's potential promotion to UP BJP leader. Speculations were sparked by Maurya's tweet, in which he stated that the organisation is larger than the government and that he is eager to accept any post assigned by the party's high command.

Following Chaudhary's invitation to visit Delhi by the party high command, his name had begun to circulate. Moreover, he had met JP Nadda. During the farmers' protests against the three farm laws, Chaudhary was a key player. As a result, UP is now the third state under BJP rule to be led by a Jat leader. OP Dhankar and Satish Poonia are well-known Jat faces from Rajasthan and Haryana, respectively.
