Digital Desk:Shillong witnessed an electrifying build-up to the Cherry Blossom Festival 2025 as Irish pop-rock band The Script stunned residents with an impromptu street performance in Laitumkhrah on Thursday evening. Traffic came to a complete standstill when the band took over the busy stretch for a surprise pop-up show, drawing hundreds of excited onlookers. Earlier the same day, the band also jammed at Don Bosco Square, treating fans to an unexpected open-air performance that instantly went viral across social media.
The Script is set to perform live today at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium (Polo Grounds) and this will be the first time that the Script perform in India. Their presence has really put the two-day festival in a spot of great expectations when it continues until 15th November.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma announced that the government expects over 50,000 attendees this year, reflecting the festival’s growing global appeal. There is an impressive list of international performers in the event lineup such as R and B artist Jason Derulo, pop band AQUA, rapper Tyga and three time Grammy winning DJ Diplo.
To top it all, Bollywood star and international dancer Nora Fatehi made her entry into Shillong to the jubilant and excited reception of the local people. She will also headline the day one of the festival on 14th November (Friday) . A high-energy performer and a magnetic stage presence with her performances, Nora is one of the festival’s biggest attractions and is expected to draw massive crowds.
With world-renowned performers, surprise street concerts, and a vibrant cultural atmosphere, the Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival 2025 has transformed the city into a hub of music, celebration, and international attention. The festival continues to hold the name of Meghalaya as the position of India’s most exciting cultural destinations.
