The deceased devotees, all Korba, Chhattisgarh residents, were travelling to the Maha Kumbh Mela to participate in the holy dip at the Sangam.

Digital Desk: In a tragic incident, at least 10 Maha Kumbh devotees from Chhattisgarh lost their lives after their Bolero car collided with a bus on the Mirzapur-Prayagraj highway in the early hours of Saturday. The horrific incident also left 19 others injured.

The deceased devotees, all Korba, Chhattisgarh residents, were travelling to the Maha Kumbh Mela to participate in the holy dip at the Sangam. The bus, involved in the collision with the Bolero car, was carrying devotees from Rajgarh, Madhya Pradesh. 

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inquired about the accident and instructed the authorities to reach the spot and ensure rescue efforts. He also directed the officials to offer adequate treatment to the injured people.

Additional SP of Prayagraj Vivek Chandra Yadav said that the 10 dead bodies were sent to Swaroop Rani Medical Hospital for post-mortem. Further investigation is underway, he added.

Since the commencement of the Maha Kumbh Mela at Prayagraj, different incidents involving Maha Kumbh devotees have taken place leading to the loss of lives.
