This mishap occurred just three days after eight coaches of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh express passenger train derailed in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, resulting in four fatalities and 31 injuries.

Digital Desk: Twelve wagons of a freight train destined for Delhi derailed near Amroha railway station in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday evening, according to officials. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.

This mishap occurred just three days after eight coaches of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh express passenger train derailed in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, resulting in four fatalities and 31 injuries.

Aditya Gupta, Senior Deputy Commercial Manager (DCM) of Moradabad Division, reported, "Twelve wagons of a goods train derailed shortly after passing Amroha railway station around 5 pm."

The Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Northern Railway stated that the derailment took place at Amroha Yard on the Ghaziabad-Moradabad section, disrupting train operations along this route.

Several Trains Diverted

Railway sources confirmed that fifteen trains have either been diverted or cancelled due to the incident. "Meanwhile, trains on this route are being rerouted via Ghaziabad, Hapur, and Gajraula," Gupta added.

Efforts are underway to restore normal train services on the affected section, with completion expected by Sunday morning, officials assured.

The freight train, originating from Uttarakhand and bound for Delhi, had its derailed wagons' contents yet to be determined, according to the official.

Congress Criticizes Railway Minister for Frequent Train Accidents

Following the incident, the Congress party recalled a previous tweet from Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw regarding a train accident and urged him to keep it pinned on his social media profile due to recurrent rail mishaps.

In response, the opposition party highlighted a video of the train accident and criticized the Modi government, alleging negligence that has deteriorated the condition of Indian Railways.

“During the Modi government, news of train accidents used to come every few days, but now such news is coming every day. The government’s negligence has ruined the railways, which are called the lifeline of the country,” Congress wrote on X.

In a similar incident on Friday, a goods train wagon derailed between Valsad and Surat stations in Gujarat, as reported by a Western Railway official. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the incident near Dungri station around 3 pm disrupted traffic along the route. The train was en route to Surat.
