It is to be noted that the seized 57 soap cases filled with a total of 700 grams of heroin that was hidden in the vehicles' cabins.


Digital Desk: During a joint operation on Sunday in Assam's Tinsukia district, at least 57 soap cases carrying heroin were found in two vehicles.


Following a tip, Special Task Force (STF) Assam and Tinsukia District Police conducted a joint operation in Gandoiguri Tiniali where they intercepted two vehicles—a Swift with the licence plate AS04 P 7010 and a Maruti Alto with the plate AS01 BV 3092—that were travelling from Dimapur to Kakopathar.


In the meantime, three residents of Karimganj were detained in connection with the seizure. Shiplu Ahmed, Maruf Ahmed, and Abidul Haque have been identified as drug peddlers.


It is to be noted that the seized 57 soap cases filled with a total of 700 grams of heroin that was hidden in the vehicles' cabins. The heroin was seized along with the two vehicles, the cash Rs. 13, 950.00, and five cell phones.


Drugs that were found are thought to have a market worth of Rs. 1.40 crores.


The STF team turned over the drug dealers and confiscated goods to Tinsukia Police so that they could begin the necessary judicial proceedings after filing a case under the appropriate legal provisions.
