In the beginning, 5G will reportedly be available in 13 cities throughout the nation, including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Jamnagar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Pune.

Digital Desk: The fifth-generation (5G) telecom services in India are expected to be launched in October of this year.

The government successfully concluded the sale after four companies, including Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea, and Adani Data Networks, successfully bid over Rs 1.50 lakh crores in the spectrum auction on Monday.

Ashwini Vaishnaw, the union minister of communications, electronics, and information technology, stated at a press conference following the conclusion of the 5G spectrum auction, "Auction has been completed and in the next few days, until August 10, all formalities including approving and allocating the spectrum will be done."

"It appears that 5G could be introduced in the nation by October. The current 5G spectrum auction shows how far the nation's telecom industry has advanced 5G technology, "the minister said.

Despite the delayed global implementation of 5G, he claimed, "We feel that we will probably buck the trend and have a considerably faster rollout of 5G relative to many other locations as our other costs are significantly under control."

He added that the government had earned $1.49 billion as of Saturday from the sale of 5G spectrum and expressed confidence that this number will surpass $1.55 billion.

The Union Minister also stated that out of the 72,098 MHz of spectrum that was available, 51,236 MHz, or around 71%, had been sold at the auction.
