As Karnataka braces for assembly elections next month, the saffron party has contacted several Kannada actors to be its star campaigners. Sudeep Sanjeev, also known as Kichcha Sudeep in Vikrant Rona, is one of them, according to reports.
This would be Kichcha Sudeep's debut in politics. According to sources, the well-known actor would campaign for the BJP throughout the state, with a particular emphasis on the Kalyana-Karnataka region.

Kichcha Sudeep (51) belongs to the Nayaka clan, which is listed on the state's Scheduled Castes list. The Nayakas hold power in the Kalyana-Karnataka region. The BJP also anticipates benefiting from Kichcha Sudeep's large fanbase.
Interestingly, DK Shivakumar, the Karnataka Congress chief, met Kichcha Sudeep at the latter's residence in February, sparking speculation that political talks between the superstar and the opposition party were ongoing.
However, Kiccha Sudeep and DK Shivakumar's aides subsequently clarified that the visit was purely personal and had no political motivations.
Karnataka heads to the polls on May 10, and the results will be announced on May 13.
The Congress and JD(S) have already released their first lists of 124 and 93 contenders, respectively. The BJP will release its first list of contenders after the party's central leadership finalizes it on April 8, according to Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai.
