During his speech in the Assam Legislative Assembly on February 20, 2025, CM Sarma accused Dr Gitashree Tamuly of getting her job by unfair means.

Demanding an inquiry into the allegations against his wife, MLA Gogoi said that such words were an attack on their self-respect.

Meanwhile, Dr. Gitashree Tamuly has decided to abstain from her job until the investigation concludes, so that the integrity of the institution is maintained.

Refuting another allegation made by CM Sarma regarding MLA Gogoi's Nizarapar residence, the latter stated that the house was purchased by his wife from the late Bhadra Borah.

MLA Gogoi demanded a probe into the allegation that he acquired the property by illegal means and urged CM Sarma to initiate an investigation. Gogoi also said that if found guilty, he would hand over the property to the Assam government.
