New Delhi, July 22: What began as a hopeful demonstration for many Assamese youth seeking accountability in India’s examination system concluded with scenes of chaos and distress in the national capital this Monday. Students who had travelled from Assam or joined from their Delhi campuses and hostels to participate in the "Sansad Chalo" march, organized by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), found themselves caught in an unexpected confrontation with security forces.
The protest aimed to demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan amidst widespread allegations of NEET paper leaks and other examination irregularities. Participants, armed with placards and slogans, initially marched peacefully, expressing their collective frustration over the integrity of the examination process.
However, the situation reportedly escalated rapidly as police moved to prevent thousands of demonstrators from advancing towards Parliament. Eyewitnesses among the Assamese contingent described a sudden shift from a peaceful procession to a scene of pandemonium.
