After receiving  bomb threats for several flights and airline companies on Friday night…

Digital Desk: Delhi Police arrested a 25-year-old young man Uttam Nagar for sending bomb threats to airlines and said he ‘wanted to draw attention’. After receiving two bomb threats for several flights and airline companies on Friday night.

This is the second time that police took action against those menaces after 250 flights have been threatened with acts of bombing in the past week. The Mumbai police had arrested a 17-year-old boy for a hoax bomb on October 16.

Police informed us on Saturday that the accused, Shubham Upadhyay, was apprehended from his house in  Uttam Nagar, Delhi. Currently, he is unemployed and has quit his studies after passing the 12th standard board examination, as informed by the police. A senior police officer said that Upadhyay reportedly posted two threatening messages to social media stating that he would blow up the flights that were headed to Delhi.

Usha Rangnani, DCP (IGI Airport), said, “We had reacted promptly, and all the flight security procedures were maintained. It also turned out that the threat was a fake. In the course of a probe, the sources of the messages were established to be originating from a Twitter account in Upadhyay’s name. Another elaboration was received, and, accordingly, a raid was affected, and he was caught.”

They said during interrogation he confessed to having sent those messages after seeing similar news reports on television. DCP said, “He wanted people to notice him and sent the messages as a joke.” Unfortunately, the matter is under further investigation.”

Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said that the ministry plans to take legal action against the accused and that the lives of travelers will not be jeopardized.
